Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples engagement
We value sustainable relationships based on trust and mutual respect and aim to identify and assist local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses to effectively engage in the construction phase of the Ichthys LNG Project and build sustainable options for operations.
Strategies have been established to ensure effective communication, access to direct and indirect supply opportunities, business support and feedback.
Case study: Set for success
Rusca Bros Services, a locally owned and operated company specialising in civil, mining and construction, worked as a subcontractor to Leighton Contractors for JKC on the Ichthys LNG Project.
Rusca Bros General Manager Stuart Totham said work on the Project started off as a 20 truck and trailer equipment only hire contract and then moved into a contract that also included labour and operators.
Rusca Bros is extremely proud of its Indigenous employment strategy, which Stuart said was all about setting employees up for success.
